At the Hospital

Dr.Ingbun, ready to start work on Martin With a record of 2 Malarias and 1 Dengue Fever, I have some experience in local hospitalization. Believe me, Bangkok is not a bad place to be sick. Assuming you choose the right hospital.

Some Bangkok hospitals are definitely world-class. My favourite is Bumrungrad Hospital. While they won't miss to ask a client how he intends to pay, they are still cheap by German standards.

Eastern and Western Therapy

There's a major difference in the way that Asian and Western doctors fix up their clients. The better doctors understand both concepts and if appropriate, give you a choice:

Eastern Western
Client asks What will it cost to fix my problem and how long will it take ? What do I have ? Will I die ? How could it happen ? Can I be cured ? What will be the side effects of the medication I have to take ?
Doctor's action Prescribe strong medication that will most likely kill the problem Analyse problem and give the right amount of the right medication
Cost General doctor's fee, medication => Relatively cheap General doctor's fee, specialist's fee, lab, x-ray, medication, .., .., => Expensive

For my own challenging diseases, the Asian method rarely works: The problem comes back soon and I have to see the doctor again (and pay again).
